The NewWorks Showcase is for artists seeking special exposure to record executives, booking agents, managers and the media. Showcases are arranged n the evening at nightclubs and other venues. Artists must perform no less than three original songs. Artists interested in showcasing must convince the event producers that they have the artistic maturity and the business savvy to benefit from the Cutting Edge. The Cutting Edge showcases all styles of music.

CONFERENCE TIPS FOR SHOWCASING ARTISTS

Meet, Greet, and Network
Attend conference sessions in order to identify speakers for later conversation about your career
Bring a pen and pad to write notes from the business sessions
Ask music executives, entertainment lawyers, promoters, and speakers questions pertaining to improving your musical career
Ask for business cards
Invite speakers and attendees to see your performance
Bring promotional material and business cards
If someone does not take your material, ask him or her if you can mail it
Be polite and friendly and you will find more people will be willing to talk to you
